New ravioli and tortelloni items build the WOW factor for casual dining.

Windsor Foods Announces New Bernardi® “Flavors Of Italy” Line of Authentic Pasta Dishes

Windsor Foods has announced a trio of upscale Italian items that were designed to offer profit and customer excitement to casual, Italian and pizza operators.  Bernardi’s new “Flavors of Italy” line of stuffed pasta dishes reflects the distinct flavors of three popular regions of Italy: The Tuscan Roasted Vegetable Ravioli, The Naples Margherita Cheese Giant Tortelloni and the Sicilian sausage Ravioli.

“These dishes are simple to prepare, require no specialized training and are absolutely on-trend with today’s popular flavors,” says Niedra Gardner, Windsor Food’s Bernardi brand Product Manager.  ”By pairing one of these pastas with a protein or vegetable of the chef’s choice, it’s a great way to create a signature dish for their menu with little effort or prep time.”

Windsor Foods will also make promotional table tents available to operators who purchase one or all three of the new items. “The ‘Flavors of Italy’ line is an easy opportunity for an operator to have limited time offer promotions that can boost customer excitement and traffic,” Gardner said.

The new items include:

  • From Tuscany, where roasting vegetables has become an art form, The Tuscan Roasted Vegetable Ravioli is a green and orange spotted pasta filled with an array of roasted Tuscan vegetables including red, yellow and green bell peppers, mushrooms and onions, along with a blend of spices and Italian cheeses.
  • From Naples, an inspiring city with a cuisine as rich in flavor as it is in tradition comes Naples Margherita Cheese Giant Tortelloni. It’s the classic pizza transformed into pasta — decorated with fresh basil flecks, then filled with an authentically creamy blend of fresh tomatoes, basil and mozzarella.
  • Inspired by Sicilian gourmet cooking, Sicilian Sausage Ravioli is a spicy Italian sausage blended with peppers, onions, marinara and Italian chesses in a specked triangle pasta pillow.

Recent studies show that while ravioli is served in about a third of both chain and independent casual restaurants now, there’s plenty of room for growth. Ravioli-type pasta dishes are among the most popular at upscale Italian restaurants, and can enable an operator to increase the average ticket by adding pasta to the menu.*

In addition to promotional materials, Bernardi offers suggested menu applications, recipes and suggested wine parings for its “Flavors of Italy” line.
