Ingredients:
- Butter - 1 tsp.
- Yellow onion, finely chopped - 1 Tbsp.
- Roasted garlic, minced - 1/2 tsp.
- Tomatoes, peeled and seeded, 1/2” dice - 1 cup
- Heavy cream - 3 Tbsp.
- Salt - pinch
- Black pepper - pinch
- Fresh basil, chopped - 2 tsp.
- Fontina cheese, shredded - 3 Tbsp.
- Lasagna sandwich - 2
YIELD: 1 portion
Preparation :
- Melt butter and saute onion until translucent.
- Add garlic and saute 1 more minute.
- Add tomatoes and simmer over medium heat for 7-10 minutes.
- Add heavy cream, salt and pepper and simmer for 2 more minutes stirring well.
- In a microwave/bake container place a small amount of sauce in it,place frozen Lasagna Sandwich on sauced container ( if pasta gets stacked, put a layer of sauce in between to prevent sticking), cover with remaining sauce, loosely cover and microwave for 3 minutes (cooking time will vary with microwave wattage).
- Uncover, sprinkle with Fontina cheese and place in hot oven and bake until cheese turns light golden brown and has a baked look to it. Garnish with chopped basil.
NOTE:
If using pizza sauce omit crushed tomatoes, salt and pepper.
If using pre-made Pasta Sauce omit crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper and basil.
